In the Group 3 of the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers, India beat Afghanistan 2-1 at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan Stadium in Kolkata.



This thrilling match saw 3 goals coming in the last 6 minutes of the game, with Indian skipper Sunil Chhetri scoring the opening goal in the 86th minute, followed by Afghanistan’s Zubayr Amiri equalising for the away team in the 88th minute of the game. It was Sahal Samad who broke the away team’s hopes of returning with a point when he scored in the 90+1 minute, thus, securing a hard-fought win for India.



44216 spectators filled up the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan Stadium in Kolkata to lift up the spirit for the home side.



With this victory, India share 6 points alongside Hongkong in the group table, with Afghanistan and Cambodia yet to secure a point.
