E-Kshatipurti portal guarantees farmers' safety: Haryana CM
Chandigarh (Haryana) [India], September 11 (HBTV): Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini accused opposition parties of spreading false propaganda against the e-Kshatipurti portal, which enables farmers to claim compensation for crop losses due to waterlogging.
Speaking in the Vidhan Sabha during the monsoon session, Saini said the portal has ensured that the benefits of welfare schemes now reach people's homes directly. He noted that in the past, farmers had to wait long for compensation, and funds often got lost or misused.
The Chief Minister alleged that during the assembly elections, the opposition spread misinformation about the portal and even threatened to shut it down if they came to power. He added that the people rejected this agenda and ended their 'business' in the elections.
According to an official statement, farmers in waterlogged villages can report crop losses through the portal, and the claims are verified by departmental officers.
Saini said that during the Congress government's tenure, only INR 1,158 crore was disbursed as crop loss compensation, whereas the present government has released INR 15,500 crore so far. Recently, an additional INR 78.50 crore was distributed to farmers.
He recalled that on July 31 this year, INR 52.14 crore was released to 22,617 farmers whose Rabi crops were damaged by hailstorms and heavy rains during the 2025 season. The compensation was calculated on the basis of comprehensive crop damage data collected through the Kshatipurti portal, which was operational between December 2024 and March 2025.
Farmers across the state registered their losses online, after which detailed assessments and verifications were carried out. Through physical verification, about 57,485 acres were found eligible for compensation across 15 districts, including Ambala, Bhiwani, Charkhi Dadri, Gurugram, Hisar, Jhajjar, Jind, Kaithal, Kurukshetra, Mahendragarh, Mewat, Palwal, Rewari, Rohtak and Yamunanagar. Financial aid was sanctioned accordingly to support affected farming communities.
