Will increase purchasing power of commoners: Chhattisgarh Finance Minister welcomes implementation of GST reforms

Raigarh (Chhattisgarh) [India], October 8 (HBTV): Chhattisgarh Finance Minister OP Choudhary welcomed the implementation of the recently announced Goods and Services Tax (GST) reductions, saying the reforms will enhance the purchasing power of common people.

Choudhary praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for implementing the reforms ahead of the Navratri festivities. ‘Bachat Utsav, GST Muhurat, Navratri has begun, and Diwali is just around the corner. At such a time, Modi has given such a big gift to the 140 crore people in the country. This is all possible because of a visionary and reform-oriented Prime Minister like Narendra Modi. I want to request all traders to reflect the new rates so that the people can benefit,’ he told ANI.

He added, ‘With the tax exemption for income up to INR 12 lakh, the GST 2.0 reforms are a huge decision. It will help commoners save money and increase their savings along with purchasing power.’

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also welcomed the reforms, stating that they will come into effect nationwide and contribute to the savings of ordinary citizens. Labeling the reductions as ‘historic,’ Shah said that GST rates have been cut on more than 390 products. ‘Modi government’s gift of Next Gen GST reform to all the mothers and sisters of the country on the auspicious occasion of Navratri! Modi’s promise to the countrymen regarding GST reform has been implemented across the entire country starting today. In this GST, historic reductions have been made in taxes on more than 390 goods,’ he posted on X.

Shah further noted that GST reductions in the medical and health sector will also increase savings for people across the country.

Earlier, Prime Minister Modi announced the implementation of next-generation GST reforms from September 22, marking a significant step towards the Aatmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan. Addressing the nation, he said the reforms would usher in a countrywide ‘GST Bachat Utsav,’ benefiting the poor, middle class, farmers, traders, and entrepreneurs alike.

‘From tomorrow, across the country, a “GST Bachat Utsav” will begin. In this GST Bachat Utsav, your savings will increase, and you will be able to purchase your favourite items more easily. The poor, middle class, neo middle class, youth, farmers, women, shopkeepers, traders, and entrepreneurs — all will benefit greatly,’ the Prime Minister said.

He added that the reforms, framed as a festive gift, would accelerate India’s growth, ease doing business, attract investment, and ensure that every state becomes an equal partner in development. (ANI)
