Yogi Adityanath govt charts roadmap for USD 6 trillion economy by 2047
Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], October 3 (HBTV): Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Uttar Pradesh government is preparing a detailed action plan to realise the vision of Viksit Uttar Pradesh - Samarth Uttar Pradesh @2047.
According to an official release, the framework is based on three missions — Samagra Vikas (all-round development), Aarthik Netrutva (economic leadership) and Sanskritik Punarjagran (cultural renaissance) — and three themes: Arth Shakti, Srijan Shakti and Jeevan Shakti. The state aims to achieve a USD 1 trillion economy by 2030 and a USD 6 trillion economy by 2047.
To achieve this, special focus is being placed on future-oriented industries such as artificial intelligence, biotech, green energy and agritech. A blueprint is also being prepared across 12 key sectors, including agriculture, IT and emerging technologies, health, education, industry, social welfare, rural and urban development, tourism, hospitality, livestock, sustainable development and governance.
Since 2017, the Yogi government has introduced police modernisation, command-and-control centres, and Operation Conviction to improve security and boost conviction rates, restoring investor confidence. This led to record investment proposals worth over INR 45 lakh crore at the 2023 UP Global Investors Summit, of which INR 15 lakh crore has already been grounded.
To attract global players, the state has launched a Global Capability Centre (GCC) policy to turn cities such as Noida and Lucknow into hubs for Fortune 500 companies. With land provisions, tax exemptions and infrastructure support, the state aims to create high-paying jobs in research and development, data analytics and cybersecurity.
Future industries — including AI, biotech, renewable energy, agritech, quantum, cybersecurity and the metaverse — will form the backbone of the state’s economy. Renewable energy and green technology will create new clusters, biotech and health-tech parks will drive pharmaceutical and medical research, while agritech and vertical farming will raise farm incomes and rural prosperity.
Experts believe that high-value services, green manufacturing and agritech reforms will help Uttar Pradesh achieve its USD 6 trillion target. GCCs and IT-AI hubs are expected to boost services exports, renewable and e-mobility clusters will accelerate manufacturing, and agriculture-based processing will strengthen the rural economy.
The vision focuses on large-scale employment generation. Renewable energy, smart city infrastructure and supply chain development will create millions of jobs, while agritech and cold chain projects in rural areas will provide local employment and reduce urban migration. Skill development and private partnerships will ensure the practicality of this roadmap.
The state aims to sustain an annual growth rate of 16 per cent to achieve a USD 6 trillion economy by 2047. Under this plan, per capita income is projected to rise significantly, with Uttar Pradesh contributing around 20 per cent to the national economy. The government noted that continuous private and public investment, human resource development and a secure investment environment will be crucial to realising this vision.
