England star Jos Buttler on verge of scoring 12,000 international cricket runs
Southampton [UK], September 7 (HBTV): England wicketkeeper-batter Jos Buttler is just 43 runs away from reaching 12,000 international runs for his country ahead of the third ODI against South Africa in Southampton. If he achieves the milestone, Buttler will become only the seventh English batter to do so.
In 387 international matches, Buttler has scored 11,957 runs at an average of 36.12 and a strike rate of 95.49, with 14 centuries and 73 fifties. He is currently England’s seventh-highest run-getter.
In the ongoing series against South Africa, Buttler registered scores of 15 and 61 in the first two ODIs. Across 20 international matches this year, he has accumulated 639 runs at an average of 35.50 and a strike rate of over 113, including four half-centuries with a best score of 96.
In Tests, Buttler played 57 matches, scoring 2,907 runs at an average of 31.94 with two centuries and 18 fifties, and a best score of 152*. His last Test appearance came in 2022, though he remains a consistent performer for England in limited-overs formats.
In 193 ODIs, he has made 5,350 runs at an average of 39.05 and a strike rate above 115, with 11 centuries and 28 fifties. His best ODI score is 162*. In T20Is, Buttler is England’s leading run-scorer, having amassed 3,700 runs in 137 matches at an average of 35.92 and a strike rate of 147.05, with one century and 27 fifties. His highest T20I score is 101*, and he is the fourth-highest run-getter in T20I history.
At the top of England’s all-time international run-scorers is Joe Root, with 21,637 runs at an average of 49.62, including 57 centuries and 114 fifties.
