Haaland says 'Howdy' after Norway reach Round of 16 of FIFA World Cup 2026
Texas [US], July 1 (HBTV): Norway striker Erling Haaland shared a series of light-hearted posts on social media after helping his side secure a place in the FIFA World Cup 2026 Round of 16 with a 2-1 victory over Ivory Coast in the Round of 32.
Taking to X after the win, Haaland posted two photographs of himself dressed in cowboy boots and a cowboy hat, captioning them, 'Howdy!'
In another post, the Norwegian striker celebrated his team's qualification by sharing a Viking-themed photograph of himself wearing a horned Viking helmet along with Norway's national team jersey. He captioned the image with the Norway flag emoji and a red heart emoji.
Haaland also marked another personal milestone on X after becoming the fastest player to score 60 international goals for Norway.
On the field, Norway edged Ivory Coast 2-1 in a tightly contested Round of 32 clash, sealing qualification for the Round of 16 with Haaland's dramatic 86th-minute winner on Tuesday (local time).
The goal added another milestone to Haaland's growing international career and sent Norway into the last 16, while Ivory Coast bowed out after a spirited display.
The match was also historic for Ivory Coast, marking the nation's first-ever appearance in a FIFA World Cup knockout match.
