Washington DC [US], November 17 (HBTV): The makers of the beloved animated series Toy Story have released the teaser of its fifth instalment. The film is scheduled to hit theatres on June 19, 2026.

The teaser introduces a new character, Lilypad, described as a high-tech, frog-shaped smart tablet that makes the jobs of Buzz, Woody, Jessie and the rest of the gang significantly harder as they face an all-new threat to playtime, according to a press release quoted by Variety.

Greta Lee joins the cast as the voice of the new toy. Pixar has shared the teaser on its official Instagram handle.

Voice actors Tom Hanks and Tim Allen return as Woody and Buzz, respectively, alongside Joan Cusack as Jessie, Blake Clark as Slinky Dog and Tony Hale as Forky. Conan O’Brien will also appear in the franchise as Smarty Pants, a new character.

Andrew Stanton, known for directing Finding Nemo, Wall-E and Finding Dory, will helm the film. Stanton co-wrote all four previous Toy Story films and is credited as the sole screenwriter of Toy Story 5.

The first Toy Story, released in 1995, was the world’s first fully computer-animated feature film. Disney distributed the original film and its 1999 sequel before acquiring Pixar in 2006. The franchise returned with Toy Story 3 in 2010 and Toy Story 4 in 2019, both of which crossed 1 billion USD at the global box office.

Toy Story 5 will be Pixar’s 31st feature. The studio’s most recent release, Elio, grossed 152 million USD worldwide, while Inside Out 2 surpassed 1.5 billion USD, becoming the highest-grossing film of 2024. Before Toy Story 5, Pixar is set to release an original film titled Hoppers in March 2026. (ANI)
