New Delhi [India], December 20 (HBTV): The Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation on Friday said it identified 64 drug samples as Not of Standard Quality in November, while State Drugs Testing Laboratories flagged 141 more samples as NSQ during the same period.

In a release, the CDSCO said the list of Not of Standard Quality and spurious drugs is published on its portal every month as part of routine regulatory surveillance. For November 2025, Central Drugs Laboratories identified 64 drug samples as NSQ, while State Drugs Testing Laboratories reported 141 samples failing to meet prescribed quality standards.

The release clarified that identification of a drug sample as NSQ is based on its failure to meet one or more specified quality parameters. It added that such failures are specific to the particular batch tested by a government laboratory and do not necessarily raise concerns about other batches or similar products available in the market.

The CDSCO also said that two drug samples from the North North Zone in Ghaziabad were identified as spurious during November. These samples were found to have been manufactured by unauthorised manufacturers using brand names owned by other companies.

According to the release, the identification of NSQ and spurious medicines is carried out regularly in coordination with state drug regulators to ensure that such products are detected and removed from the market in the interest of public health.
