Chumoukedima, Nagaland, November 8 (HBTV): Ultra Trail Kohima, a unique ‘festival’ for people who love to race and run culminated at Jotsoma near Kohima town on November 8, after a grueling run through some of the most scenic, and hilly terrains, in the capital district region.

Nimsang Limboo and Shanti Rai won the 70km category, Ganga Hang Subba, and Meena Kumari Subba won the 45km category, while Wede T Mero and Nainsai won the 20km category.

Ultra Trail Kohima was not sponsored by the Government of Nagaland, but driven by community initiative and passion.

The event was hosted by Vouno Experience.

The race featured three race categories: 20 km, 45 km, and 70 km.

Participants in the 45 km and 70 km races ran through scenic trails passing Western Angami villages, farmlands, forests, and hills, showcasing the region’s natural beauty and cultural heritage.

The event also includes men’s and women’s categories, with attractive cash prizes — ₹2 lakh for the 70 km race, ₹1 lakh for the 45 km race, and ₹50,000 for the 20 km race.

Designed to promote eco-tourism in Nagaland, Ultra Trail Kohima takes full advantage of the state’s rugged yet stunningly suitable terrain. What truly sets it apart, however, is the strong community involvement, offering participants rare exposure to local villages and grassroots participation that breathes authenticity into the experience.
