Raipur (Chhattisgarh) [India], December 10 (HBTV): Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has congratulated Nitish Kumar on becoming the Chief Minister of Bihar once again, saying that the people of the state had chosen to establish good governance.

He told mediapersons, 'I congratulate Nitish Kumar on becoming the Chief Minister once again. I also congratulate the people of Bihar as good governance will be established there.'

He also spoke about President Droupadi Murmu's visit to Chhattisgarh to attend the Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas event in Ambikapur.

Janata Dal (United) chief Nitish Kumar took oath as Bihar Chief Minister for the tenth time in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other leaders of the National Democratic Alliance. The Prime Minister had skipped the swearing-in ceremony in 2020.

The ceremony was held at Patna's historic Gandhi Maidan, which has hosted Nitish Kumar's inaugurations in 2005, 2010 and 2015. It was at this venue that Jayaprakash Narayan called for 'total revolution' during a speech in 1974.

Several Chief Ministers of NDA-ruled states attended the ceremony, including Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.

On Wednesday, Nitish Kumar was first elected as the leader of the JD(U) Legislature Party during a meeting with the newly elected MLAs at his residence in Patna. He was also unanimously chosen as the leader of the National Democratic Alliance Legislature Party ahead of the formation of the new government.

Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha were elected as leader and deputy leader of the BJP Legislature Party respectively during a meeting held at the BJP state headquarters.

The 2025 Bihar Assembly polls were seen as a major test for Nitish Kumar, who has played a central role in the state's politics for the past two decades. The 74-year-old leader has been Chief Minister since November 2005, with a brief nine-month break in 2014–15.

The Bihar Assembly elections were held in two phases on November 6 and 11. The state recorded a historic 67.13 per cent voter turnout, the highest since 1951, with women voters outnumbering men at 71.6 per cent compared to 62.8 per cent. (ANI)
