Raipur (Chhattisgarh) [India], January 26 (HBTV): The Chhattisgarh government and GAIL (India) Limited have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to jointly explore the development of a greenfield gas-based fertiliser project in the state.
The non-binding MoU was signed in the presence of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai. The agreement was inked by Rajat Kumar, Secretary (Commerce and Industries), Government of Chhattisgarh, and Rajeev Kumar Singhal, Director (Business Development), GAIL (India) Limited.
Under the MoU, GAIL will carry out detailed techno-economic feasibility studies for setting up a urea manufacturing plant with a capacity of 12.7 lakh metric tonnes. The proposed facility is planned to be strategically located along GAIL’s Mumbai–Nagpur–Jharsuguda Natural Gas Pipeline corridor.
Based on the outcome of the techno-economic evaluation, GAIL will take an investment decision regarding the establishment of the fertiliser project.
The Chhattisgarh government will provide facilitation at all stages of the project, including support for feasibility studies, identification and allocation of suitable land, coordination with state and central authorities, assistance with statutory approvals, and enabling infrastructure required for project implementation.
