New Delhi (Delhi) [India], January 13 (HBTV): A delivery employee was allegedly restrained and physically assaulted by a showroom owner for using perfume inside the store premises, police officials said.

The injured delivery employee has been identified as Risha Kumar, son of Lalla Babu, aged around 18 years, a resident of Harijan Basti near Ambedkar Park in Old Kondli. Police said they took cognisance of the incident after receiving information about the assault and initiated necessary action.

According to officials, a complaint alleged that a Zepto showroom owner restrained and assaulted the delivery employee over the use of perfume inside the store. Legal action under relevant provisions of law has been taken, and further investigation is underway, the police said.

The incident comes days after platform-based delivery workers affiliated with the Indian Federation of App-Based Transport Workers observed a nationwide strike on December 31, protesting against unfair working conditions, low wages, and the absence of social security. (ANI)
