New Delhi [India], November 29 (HBTV): Prime Minister Narendra Modi has released the 21st instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) Yojana from Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, transferring funds directly into the accounts of farmers across the country.
On this occasion, INR 316.38 crore was transferred to 15.82 lakh farmers in Haryana. A state-level event was organised in Palwal district, where Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini attended as the chief guest. Similar programmes were held across all districts, attended by Cabinet Ministers, State Ministers, and Members of Parliament, with the Prime Minister’s address broadcast live.
Expressing gratitude to the Prime Minister on behalf of Haryana’s farmers, the Chief Minister said that INR 14.86 crore had been credited to the bank accounts of 74,299 farmers in Palwal district. With this instalment, a total of INR 7,233.74 crore has been disbursed to Haryana farmers under the PM-KISAN scheme so far, according to a Haryana government release.
In his address, Saini said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is consistently working to empower farmers and strengthen their prosperity. He urged farmers to move beyond traditional crops and shift towards value-added farming, establish processing units, adopt the farm-to-fork model, and embrace agri-tourism and branding.
He said the Prime Minister has identified four key pillars to achieve the vision of a developed India by 2047 — farmers, the poor, women, and youth. He emphasised that the welfare and prosperity of farmers, the first pillar, are essential to realising this vision. Under the Prime Minister’s leadership, Haryana is working to make agriculture profitable and moving steadily towards the goal of a ‘Developed India – Developed Haryana’.
Saini added that by the year 2047, when India marks 100 years of Independence, farmers will be self-reliant, environmentally conscious, digitally empowered, globally connected, and recognised for high-quality branded produce.
Referring to welfare schemes for farmers, the Chief Minister said that under the Prime Minister’s leadership, the interests of farmers remain central to national policy. While the state promotes natural farming, it is also encouraging horticultural crops as an alternative to traditional crops to boost fruit and vegetable production.
He said that incentives under the Stubble Incentive Scheme have been increased from INR 1,000 to INR 1,200 per acre. Under the Bhavantar Bharpai Yojana, designed to protect horticultural farmers from market fluctuations, INR 135 crore has been transferred directly to the bank accounts of about 30,000 farmers over the last 11 years.
Saini further said that Haryana is the first state in India where all crops are procured by the government at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) and payments are made to farmers within 48 hours. He noted that today’s youth are adopting agriculture as an innovation-driven, entrepreneurial sector, and that digital data systems have made scheme benefits more accessible, transparent, and efficient.
Addressing the event, Haryana Public Works Minister Ranbir Gangwa said that the Prime Minister has released substantial funds as part of the 21st instalment of the PM-KISAN scheme. He said farmers receive INR 6,000 annually under the scheme and that several key initiatives are now being implemented nationwide to ensure farmers directly benefit from government support.
