New Delhi [India], November 10 (HBTV): Rajya Sabha MP Kartikeya Sharma met Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi to discuss three major road-related issues concerning the Panchkula district of Haryana.

The meeting focused on the deteriorating condition of the Pinjore–Nalagarh four-lane (NH-105), which serves as an important industrial corridor connecting Haryana with Himachal Pradesh. Several stretches of the highway, particularly near Pinjore and Sukhomajri, are in poor condition with large potholes and damaged layers affecting vehicular movement.

MP Kartikeya Sharma requested the Union Minister to instruct the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to undertake immediate repair and strengthening work to ensure road safety and smooth traffic flow.

He also highlighted the absence of street lighting on the Mauli–Bagwali road (NH-344), a heavily used route for industrial and local traffic. The MP pointed out that the area remains completely dark at night, significantly raising the risk of accidents, and suggested the preparation of a special project for the installation of street lights to improve visibility and safety.

Additionally, Sharma raised concerns about inadequate retaining walls constructed during the development of the Himalayan Expressway (Pinjore Bypass). He noted that this failure had weakened the foundations of several houses along the road, leading to boundary wall collapses and soil erosion during recent rains, endangering local residents. He urged the Minister to direct NHAI to conduct a technical survey and build proper retaining walls to prevent further damage or loss of life.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari took note of all three issues, approved the submitted letters, and instructed ministry officials to initiate prompt action. He assured that the projects would be prioritised in view of public safety and interest.
