Chandigarh (Haryana) [India], November 5 (HBTV): In a major breakthrough in its ongoing crackdown on organised crime, the Special Task Force (STF) of Haryana has arrested a close associate of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.

The accused, identified as Lakhwinder Singh alias Lakha, a resident of Titram village in Kaithal district, was deported from the United States of America and taken into custody by the STF Ambala Unit after completion of all legal formalities. Singh is a close aide of Bishnoi and had been operating from the US since 2022 under the direction of Bishnoi’s brother, Anmol Bishnoi.

According to an official release, Lakhwinder Singh was actively involved in around a dozen cases of extortion and firing incidents related to extortion in Haryana and Punjab. He has a significant criminal record in Haryana, with cases registered in Sonipat, Rohtak, Yamuna Nagar, Kaithal, and Ambala.

A Look Out Circular (LOC) and Red Corner Notice (RCN) were issued against him in 2023 and 2024, respectively, by the STF Haryana. After nearly a year of continuous coordination and legal follow-up with national and international agencies, authorities successfully executed his deportation from the US.

He is being produced before the Ambala Court, where the STF will seek his police custody for further interrogation. Investigators expect to uncover more details about his criminal activities and network since he fled India.

The Haryana STF reiterated its commitment to dismantling organised crime syndicates and said it is actively pursuing further legal action to identify and deport other wanted criminals operating from abroad.
