Bijapur (Karnataka) [India], October 14 (HBTV): Security forces in Karnataka’s Bijapur district have recovered a large quantity of explosives from Maoists.

According to officials, a joint team comprising Cobra 206, CRPF 229, 153, and 196 battalions launched a search operation from the Talpada Base Camp in the KGB foothills area on Monday around 3 p.m. During the operation, the team discovered a substantial cache of explosive material and items used in manufacturing BGLs that had been hidden by the Maoists.

The recovered items included 51 live BGLs, 100 bundles of HT aluminium wire, 50 steel pipes, 40 iron plates, and 20 iron sheets used in the making of BGLs, along with a large quantity of electrical wire. Security forces also detected and safely demolished five pressure IEDs planted to target them, with assistance from the BD team.

Officials stated that the recovery thwarted a major Maoist plot to inflict damage on the security forces. The quantity of explosives and equipment indicates that a large-scale attack was being planned. Regular patrolling and search operations continue in the region.

Meanwhile, in a separate development, security forces arrested an active cadre of the KCP (PWG) from Bishnupur under the Bishnupur police station limits in Manipur. The arrested cadre has been identified as 42-year-old Moirangthem Mohen Singh, a resident of Sagolband Tera Sayang Leirak, Imphal West.

Authorities seized one SM carbine with a magazine, two AK magazines, 24 rounds of AK ammunition, one camouflage T-shirt, and a mobile phone with two SIM cards from his possession.

Additionally, approximately 3 kg of heroin, eight bottles of psychotropic Tussrex-TR syrup, drug sale proceeds amounting to INR 9,57,000, one SBBL gun with two cartridges, a four-wheeler, and four mobile phones were also recovered, police said.
