New Delhi [India], November 8 (HBTV): Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has described the cow as the ‘foundation of the Indian economy’, highlighting its traditional and economic significance while addressing the National Godhan Summit in New Delhi.

Speaking at the event, Saini said, ‘Mother Cow is the foundation of our economy. Since ancient times, we all know that the more cows a person owned, the wealthier he was considered. The cow has also been given the status of mother. Cow’s milk is like nectar. If a child does not get mother’s milk, then we can give cow’s milk to the child. Cow’s milk is considered to be mother’s milk.’

He further underscored that initiatives promoting the rearing and protection of cows not only uphold India’s cultural values but also contribute to strengthening the rural economy.

The National Godhan Summit brought together policymakers, dairy sector experts, and representatives of gaushalas to discuss sustainable livestock management and ways to enhance the economic value of cattle-based products.

The summit, organised from November 5 to 10, 2025, at the Major Dhyan Chand Stadium in New Delhi, is being hosted by the Rashtriya Godhan Mahasangh. The event is dedicated to cow welfare and the promotion of cow-based sustainable innovations.

Meanwhile, Saini announced a special scheme to provide relief to farmers affected by heavy rains and floods during the 2025 monsoon season.

Under the scheme, payment of electricity bills for all agricultural tubewell consumers in the state from July to December 2025 has been deferred for six months.

A spokesperson for the Energy Department said that the electricity bills issued in July 2025 will now be payable in January 2026. Similarly, the August 2025 bills will be payable in February 2026, and the December 2025 bills in June 2026.

This decision is expected to benefit approximately 7.10 lakh agricultural consumers across Haryana.
