New Delhi [India], January 22 (HBTV): The Commission for Air Quality Management in NCR and Adjoining Areas (CAQM) conducted a large-scale enforcement inspection in Nuh district of Haryana on January 2, 2026, as part of its ongoing drive to ensure strict compliance with statutory directions and prescribed environmental norms across the National Capital Region.
According to an official release, a total of 10 flying squad teams were deployed for the inspection operation, which covered both conforming and non-conforming industrial areas of the district. The exercise was led by the district administration, including deputy commissioners and duty magistrates, along with officials from the Haryana State Pollution Control Board. Police personnel were also present to support and facilitate the inspections, while the district administration allocated specific areas to each flying squad.
In total, 105 inspections were carried out during the operation. These included five construction and demolition sites, while the remaining 100 inspections covered industrial units. The industries inspected comprised 86 stone crushers, five tyre pyrolysis plants, five ready-mix concrete plants, three hot-mix plants, and one screening and washing plant.
The release noted that the inspections were conducted while actions up to Stage-III of the prevailing Graded Response Action Plan were in force across the NCR. In line with the GRAP Stage-III schedule, almost all industrial units and construction and demolition sites were found to be non-operational, closed, or dismantled. However, violations of Direction No. 76 of the Commission, related to the use of diesel generator sets, were reported in three units.
The Commission stated that such rigorous enforcement under the extant GRAP framework is essential to curb non-compliance, reduce emissions at the source, and provide relief to residents living near non-compliant entities. These efforts are aimed at ensuring industries and construction sites adhere to prescribed standards and do not contribute to air pollution in the region.
The inspection operation in Nuh forms part of CAQM’s broader enforcement initiative to intensify on-ground monitoring during the GRAP period, in close coordination with NCR state governments, district authorities, and concerned agencies, the release added.
