Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], November 5 (HBTV): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath accused the opposition parties of attempting to divide society along caste lines under what he described as a ‘divide and rule’ policy.

Speaking at a state-level workshop held in the run-up to the 150th birth anniversary of India’s first Home Minister, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, on October 31, the Chief Minister alleged that the Congress, Samajwadi Party, and other parties in the INDIA bloc were deliberately spreading animosity through social media and caste-based politics.

‘Congress, SP and other parties which are part of the INDIA bloc are continuously creating hatred in society by creating a rift among various castes. They are creating animosity within castes on social media by using fake accounts and provoking groups to intensify disputes so that society remains divided,’ he said.

Yogi asserted that fringe elements and opposition parties were trying to fragment social harmony under the same policy once used by colonial powers. ‘Fringe elements in society, including opposition political parties, are trying to break the society into caste under the divide and rule policy. It is our duty to inform people about the opposition’s conspiracy,’ he said.

He added that the BJP’s Run for Unity programme, held annually on October 31, was followed this year by new initiatives aimed at strengthening national unity. ‘From November 1 to November 26, foot marches spanning 8 to 10 km will be conducted at the Vidhan Sabha level. These will involve MLAs, veteran soldiers, farmers, workers, NCC members, and various organisations to unite society and raise awareness,’ Yogi explained.

He said these programmes would culminate on November 26 — Samvidhan Divas — a day to pay tribute to Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar.

Earlier, CM Yogi met Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel and extended Diwali greetings.

On Thursday, he addressed election rallies in Bihar in support of BJP’s Ramkripal Yadav (Danapur) and NDA’s Shyam Rajak (Phulwari Sharif), where he accused the RJD-Congress alliance of derailing Bihar’s progress by promoting divisive ‘development versus burqa’ politics.

‘Those who once pushed Bihar into Jungle Raj are again trying to mislead people,’ he said, warning voters against ‘fake polling’ and alleging that the RJD-Congress alliance wanted to bring back an era of ballot snatching and fraudulent voting.

He reminded the crowd of Bihar’s difficult years between 1990 and 2005, saying that under RJD-Congress rule, ‘the land of knowledge became a hub of crime and dynasty politics.’ He accused the alliance of sheltering mafias and forcing people to migrate for livelihoods.

Highlighting the NDA’s achievements, Yogi said, ‘In Uttar Pradesh, mafias are on their way to hell — their properties are being seized and used to build houses for the poor.’ He added that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the NDA has ensured inclusive development, while ‘the Congress-RJD agenda has always been for family welfare, not public welfare.’
