Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], December 21 (HBTV): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has reviewed the progress of various initiatives aimed at transforming the state into a ‘One Trillion Dollar Economy’ and directed officials to accelerate the execution of departmental work to meet stipulated targets.
Chairing a high-level meeting in Lucknow, the chief minister reviewed works linked to the ‘One Trillion Dollar Economy’ roadmap along with budget allocation and expenditure for the financial year 2025–26, according to an official release.
The meeting was informed that Uttar Pradesh’s share in India’s economy has increased from 8 per cent in 2016 to over 9 per cent in 2024–25. The state’s gross state domestic product rose from INR 12.5 lakh crore in 2016–17 to INR 29.78 lakh crore in 2024–25 and is estimated to cross INR 36 lakh crore in 2025–26.
During the department-wise review, the chief minister said the state is moving in the right direction towards achieving the one trillion dollar economy goal and noted that there is significant scope for further acceleration. He directed officials to further speed up execution in this direction.
According to the release, 93 per cent of the targeted GSDP has already been achieved under the current leadership, and efforts are underway to reach a GSDP target of nearly INR 42 lakh crore.
The chief minister directed ministers to conduct monthly reviews of departmental works related to the plan, with the chief secretary ensuring fortnightly reviews, while additional chief secretaries, principal secretaries, and heads of departments were instructed to hold weekly reviews. He emphasised the need for qualitative assessments and timely completion of all identified works.
He further directed that real-time data on departmental works should be uploaded promptly and that data collection processes be expedited. Ministers and departmental officers were asked to maintain continuous coordination with central government officials to ensure the timely release of the central share and proper utilisation of allocated budgets.
The chief minister said Uttar Pradesh contributes 21 per cent of the country’s total foodgrain production and stressed that ensuring food and nutrition security while increasing farmers’ income remains a key objective. He noted that the state’s agricultural growth rate remains above 13 per cent and directed that work on Seed Parks and the UP Agris project be expedited.
Highlighting road safety as a priority, CM Adityanath instructed the Transport Department to take concrete measures to reduce road accidents, particularly during foggy conditions, and to hold a comprehensive review meeting on the issue.
He also said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the state has recorded a significant increase in tourist arrivals in recent years. In the energy sector, officials informed the meeting that reduced power theft and technical losses have improved the performance of state power utilities. In the health sector, it was noted that payments received by hospitals under the PM Jan Arogya Yojana contribute to increased income and growth in the sector.
