Hyderabad, February 18 (HBTV): Excise police in Hyderabad have arrested a man for allegedly selling ganja-infused chocolates and thandai milk in the Charminar area ahead of the Holi festival.
The accused, identified as B. Vikas, is a native of Agra in Uttar Pradesh.
According to officials, Vikas was allegedly mixing approximately 5 grams of ganja into each chocolate and selling ganja-laced thandai milk for ₹150 per glass, despite the beverage’s original price being ₹50.
Acting on a tip-off, enforcement teams raided his residence and recovered 1,920 ganja-infused chocolates. During questioning, the accused reportedly admitted to bringing the chocolates from Agra in anticipation of high demand during Holi celebrations.
The seized items were handed over to the Charminar Excise police for further investigation.
DRI seizes tiger body parts in separate wildlife trafficking case
In a separate operation earlier this week, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Hyderabad Zonal Unit, seized suspected wildlife contraband linked to illegal trafficking.
Officials recovered seven tiger nails and three tiger canine teeth, believed to be parts of a tiger (Panthera tigris), from two individuals allegedly attempting to sell them in the grey market.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, authorities intercepted the suspects in a coordinated operation. During questioning, one of the accused produced a transparent pouch containing the wildlife articles.
Further investigation is underway.
