Kohima, Nagaland, December 2 (HBTV): The ‘SEBI vs Scam Mission’, of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), has officially gone live at the Hornbill Festival at Kisama village, in Kohima district.

The program marks a major milestone in the SEBI’s nationwide financial awareness journey. After months of planning and continuous investor education campaigns across India, SEBI has chosen the biggest and most celebrated event of Nagaland to launch this transformative initiative.

The festive atmosphere especially at Kisama, the symbolic Naga village, the main venue of the Hornbill festival, now hosts a mission dedicated to helping people protect their hard-earned money from financial frauds.

SEBI vs Scam Mission

The SEBI vs Scam Mission is a large-scale awareness initiative aimed at educating citizens about the growing number of financial scams circulating both online and offline. SEBI’s objective is to empower individuals with the right knowledge so they can identify suspicious schemes, avoid fraudulent offers, and make safer investment decisions. Through this mission, SEBI seeks to build a financially aware and scam-resistant society.

At the SEBI stall, visitors are informed about several common and emerging scams that often trap unsuspecting individuals.  These include online scams involving fake websites, phishing links, and fraudulent apps; “Guaranteed return” scams promising unrealistic profits; WhatsApp and Telegram scams through fake groups and investment tips; investment scams run by unregistered entities and ponzi operators; social media scams spread by cloned profiles and misleading influencers;

Real examples and simple explanations help visitors understand how these scams operate and how to stay alert, updates from the SEBI stated.

What else does SEBI offer at the festival?

The stall features interactive sessions, fun quizzes, and one-on-one assistance for anyone seeking guidance on past or ongoing scam issues. Visitors can engage directly with experts, ask questions, and learn safe financial practices in an approachable and engaging environment.

The launch at Hornbill Festival marks a meaningful step in SEBI’s commitment to investor protection and financial literacy across India.
