Chumoukedima, Nagaland, December 10 (HBTV): The anti-scam and anti-financial fraud mission of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) at the Hornbill Festival in Kohima district has been taking the conversation of financial prudence to the people of Nagaland.

The SEBI has set up a stall at the festival’s main venue at Kisama village, the symbolic Naga village which is the main venue. The SEBI’s ‘SEBI vs Scam’ mission is on its tenth day at this year’s edition of the Hornbill Festival.

During the past nine days of spreading awareness, interactions, and public engagement, the SEBI stall said its stall had grown into a learning hub for visitors from all age groups eager to understand how to make safer financial decisions in today’s fast-changing world.

Besides educating the public in making smart financial choices, the stall has its highlights at the event. Theja Meru, chairman of the TaFMA inaugurated the event, while Miss Nagaland Linoka K Achumi, also engaged with visitors and lauded the SEBI’s efforts to equip people with understanding fraud dynamics.

There were also mascots and ‘selfie sessions’ which made the SEBI event fun and approachable for people tackling matters such as financial learning.

Temjen Imna Along, Minister of Tourism & Higher Education of Nagaland is also said to have visited the SEBI at the venue.

Other event included an interactive ‘scam-smart quiz,’ during which participants tested their knowledge and learned to identify common scam tactics. The means of interactions that the SEBI engaged with the people was continuous one-on-one Interactions, with visitors seeking guidance on safe investing, red flags, and verifying genuine intermediaries, the SEBI stated.

‘These activities have helped to change SEBI’s initiative for financial literacy into an engaging, relatable, and memorable experience for festival-goers,’ a handout from the SEBI on Wednesday stated.

‘Many visitors expressed gratitude for the clarity they gained regarding guaranteed returns, fraudulent schemes, and digital safety—areas where misinformation often leads to preventable losses.’

The SEBI has expressed heartfelt gratitude to the people of Nagaland for their support, curiosity, and enthusiasm throughout this nine-day journey.

‘The response has been deeply encouraging and continues to motivate the mission forward. As the festival approaches its conclusion, SEBI invites everyone to stay connected, stay informed, and remain scam-smart,’ the SEBI stated.

‘The “SEBI vs Scam” Mission will continue bringing financial awareness to communities across India - empowering citizens to make confident and secure financial choices.’
