Chumoukedima, Nagaland, December 9 (HBTV): The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has expressed gratitude to the people of Nagaland for their strong response to the ongoing “SEBI vs Scam” mission. SEBI is currently on its ninth day at the Hornbill Festival, where it is promoting financial literacy and smart anti-scam practices at the Naga Heritage Village in Kisama, Kohima.

In a handout issued on Tuesday, December 9, SEBI said that the steady flow of visitors reflected the public’s growing interest in staying financially informed and protecting themselves from misleading investment practices. To ensure clarity and impact, SEBI highlighted the major activities carried out at its stall during the festival.

Officials held one-on-one interactions with visitors, guiding them on how to identify fraudulent schemes and make safer investment choices. A scam-smart quiz drew participants of all ages and helped them test and strengthen their understanding of financial red flags.

Further, the presence of a friendly mascot added a light-hearted and welcoming element, encouraging people to engage with the stall. SEBI also noted that several dignitaries visited the stall and acknowledged its efforts, further emphasizing the importance of financial awareness among citizens.

SEBI officials explained various types of scams that visitors should be cautious about. They reminded the public that no market-linked investment can guarantee fixed returns and warned them about the risks associated with unauthorized investment advisors and unregistered intermediaries.

The SEBI also cautioned visitors about pump-and-dump stock tips and unverified recommendations circulated by social media influencers, all of which pose significant risks to unsuspecting investors.

Visitors shared that these pointers helped them better understand the risks associated with financial fraud and the importance of verifying whether advisors and platforms are SEBI-registered.

SEBI is thankful to the people of Nagaland for their ‘warmth, enthusiasm, and trust.’

The “SEBI vs Scam” mission encourages everyone to stay alert, stay informed, and stay connected for more awareness initiatives.
