Swine flu claims one in Cachar district; death toll at two

After the death of an 18-month-old girl in Hailakandi on May 5, another child, a four-year-old died at the Silchar Medical College and Hospital on Wednesday reportedly due to Swine Flu.

Silchar, Assam, May 8 (HBTV): After the death of an 18-month-old girl in Hailakandi on May 5, another child, a four-year-old died at the Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) on Wednesday reportedly due to Swine Flu.     

On April 14, the four-year-old was admitted to SMCH with high fever. Subsequent tests revealed that the child was suffering from Swine Flu. With this casualty, the death toll due to Swine Flu in Barak valley has risen to two.                 

A medical advisory has been issued for prevention of the virus in the three districts of south Assam namely Cachar, Karimganj, and Hailakandi.
