Silchar, Assam, May 4 (HBTV): The Assam police have seized heroin weighing 572 grams on Thursday evening at Nagdigram in Sonai constituency of Cachar district in Assam.           

Based on a specific intelligence input, the Cachar police conducted operations on Thursday during which they found 44 soap cases containing heroin, updates stated.             

The police have arrested two persons in this connection. They have been identified as one Anowar Hussain Majumder; and a Hussain Ahmed Laskar, who initially fled from the spot but was subsequently apprehended.      

A car involved in the transportation of the narcotics was also seized. The worth of the contraband in the black market is estimated to be about INR three crore, according to Cachar’s additional superintendent of police Subrata Sen.
