Security forces in Manipur have arrested two cadres of the proscribed organization United National Liberation Front (Koireng).

Imphal, Manipur, May 10 (HBTV): Two cadres of the proscribed organization United National Liberation Front (Koireng) were arrested by security forces on Thursday. They are identified by police as 36 years old Huidrom Jitangit Singh and 43 years old Nigtham Oinam.   

The police confirmed the arrest and said cash of approximately INR 1,17,360, 40 live rounds, two walkie-talkies, 20 grams of suspected heroine, a gold chain, and a gold ring, among other items were recovered from them.   

A statement from the police control room said search operations were conducted by security forces in the fringe and vulnerable areas of the hill and valley districts.   

“Movement of 192 and 204 vehicles along NH-37 and NH-2 respectively with essential items have been ensured. Strict security measures are taken up in all vulnerable locations and security convoy is provided in sensitive stretches in order to ensure free and safe movement of the vehicles,” the statement added.

A total of 125 checkpoints were said to have been set up in different districts of Manipur, both in the hills and the valley. The police detained 98 persons in connection with violations in different districts of the state.
