The Confederation of Nagaland Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CNCCI) has decided to launch an all-Nagaland indefinite shutter-down starting April 27 protesting the rampant extortion activities.

Chumoukedima, Nagaland, April 26 (HBTV): The Confederation of Nagaland Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CNCCI) has decided to launch an all-Nagaland indefinite shutter-down starting April 27 protesting the rampant extortion activities and illegal taxation.

After the Dimapur business community announced a strike demanding the Nagaland government to act against the extortion activities, various business organizations across the districts announced similar shutter-down in support.

The unchecked ‘culture’ of extortion and threat by Naga underground organizations, and illegal taxation by community groups too, continue to plague the Nagas’ socioeconomic discourse.

The confederation launched the strike as there was no positive response from the Nagaland government. The CNCCI has asked all its district units to ensure their businesses shut for the strike in their respective districts.

Banking establishments, educational institutions, government offices, and all medical related activities are kept outside the purview of the strike.
