Dimapur police arrest drug trafficker running a ‘medical shop’ to push drugs

Dimapur police have arrested an individual who allegedly ran a medical front to run a drug trafficking business in the Murgi Patti area of Dimapur.

Chumoukedima, Nagaland, April 20 (HBTV): Dimapur police have arrested an individual who allegedly ran a medical front to run a drug trafficking business in the Murgi Patti area of Dimapur.   



A press release from the Dimapur police authorities received here on Saturday said an “important trafficker” identified as one Md.Hassan Uddin was running a “medical shop,” in Murgi Patti. He was arrested from Arunachal Pradesh, the police said.                      



‘Upon learning about the accused being involved in drug trafficking during the course of investigation into another case, a joint operation was launched by Nagaland police along with Arunachal police and West Bengal police,’ the press release stated. 



The accused person used the postal delivery system of India Post to send parcels of morphine from Dimapur to West Bengal, the police said. The morphine had apparently been sourced from Moreh in Manipur.     



‘Parcels containing two kg morphine worth INR 8 crores were seized in Barrakpore, West Bengal. It was caught in the month of February 2024, by West Bengal police,’ the press release stated. 



‘Hasan Mamu is having history of narcotics related offences wherein he along with his brother Kamal Uddin is also involved, besides others,’ the press release stated.
