Chief of India ISIS Haris Farooqi, and associate arrested from Assam’s Dhubri

Dhubri, Assam, March 21 (HBTV): The head of the terrorist group ISIS in India, Haris Farooqi alias Harish Ajmal Farukhi of Chakrata in Dehradun, has been captured from Dhubri in Assam. 



In a major breakthrough, Assam police's Special Task Force has arrested the top India ISIS operative, along with an associate, on Wednesday after they entered Assam's Dhubri illegally from neighboring Bangladesh.                      



The fugitive is most wanted by the country’s National Investigative Agency.     



According to STF sources, agencies tipped off the authorities that two top leaders of the India ISIS, who were camping in a neighboring country, would cross over to India in the Dhubri area.Based on the input, an STF team set out to nab the duo.   



The team proceeded to Dhubri Tuesday evening. A manhunt was then launched at the international border areas to nab the ISIS operatives.             



At approximately 4:15 am, the individuals were detected in the Dharmasala area of Dhubri and were captured. They have been brought to the STF office at Guwahati in Assam.



The identities of the operatives have been ascertained, reports said. Haris Farooqi alias Harish Ajmal Farukhi of Chakrata in Dehradun is the head of ISIS in India.                        



Haris Farooqi’s associate was identified as Anurag Singha alias Rehan of Diwana in Panipat. Singha reportedly got converted to Islam. His wife is said to be a Bangladeshi national.



Assam will hand over the individuals to the NIA for further action, the Assam Police STF said in a press release.
