New Delhi [India], March 12 (HBTV): Nayab Singh Saini, a member of Haryana legislative assembly from Haryana's Kurukshetra, met with the state’s Governor Bandaru Dattatreya on Tuesday to formally stake claim to form the government in the state, replacing his predecessor, senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Manohar Lal Khattar.

Saini met the governor on Tuesday along with Manohar Lal Khattar.

An influential figure within the OBC, or Other Backward Classes, community, Nayab Saini is the BJP's Lok Sabha Member of Parliament from Kurukshetra. He was appointed the party's state boss in October the previous year. He is also a close confidante of Khattar, whose second (consecutive) term ends this year.

"Continuous good governance will continue in Haryana under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji," Saini said in a post on X.

The BJP has 41 MLAs in the 90-member Haryana Assembly. It also enjoys the support of five independent MLAs and the Haryana Lokhit Party MLA Gopal Kanda.
