CBI files charge sheet against seven individuals in Manipur arms looting case

The CBI has filed a charge sheet before the Chief Judicial Magistrate in Guwahati against seven persons accused in a case related to the looting of arms and ammunition from the 2nd IRB.

New Delhi [India], March 3 (HBTV): The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a charge sheet before the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate in Guwahati against seven persons accused in a case related to the looting of arms and ammunition from the 2nd Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) in Manipur. 



The CBI registered the case on August 24, 2023, and took over the investigation following an FIR that was registered at Police Station Moirang in district Bishnupur in Manipur.  



This followed notifications issued by the state government of Manipur and subsequently by the government of India under the DSPE Act 1946.  



As alleged in the FIR, a large number of armed miscreants and individuals looted approximately 300 arms, around 19,800 ammunitions, and around 800 types of munitions and other items from two rooms of the battalion headquarters Kote inside quarter guard of the 2-IRB on August 3 in Naranseina in Manipur. 



The charge sheet nameed one Laishram Prem Singh; a Khumukcham Dhiren alias Thapkpa; one Moirangthem Anand Singh; a Athokpam Kajit alias Kishorjit; one Loukrakpam Michael Mangangcha alias Michael; a Konthoujam Romojit Meitei alias Romojit; and one Keisham Johnson alias Johnson as the accused persons. 



Further investigation against other suspects involved in the looting of arms and ammunition and other aspects is underway.
