Imphal, Manipur, March 6 (HBTV): Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has launched seven ‘Mine Protected Vehicles’ or MPVs for the Manipur Police on Wednesday at the 1st Manipur Rifles Parade Ground.

Director General of Police Rajiv Singh thanked the chief minister for the MPVs and for motivating the force. Stating that three more MPVs are to arrive, he assured that the vehicles would be used for dominating areas and keeping the people of Manipur safe and secure.

Ministers, MLAs, chief secretary Dr. Vineet Joshi, security advisor Kuldiep Singh, senior administrative and police officers, among others, were at the launch of the vehicles.

The arrival of the vehicles is being viewed as a strong motivation for the Manipur state security forces, which have been battling armed attacks amid the ongoing ethnic violence. The violence between the Meitei and Kuki-Zo communities began in May 2023.

The situation in Manipur continues to be challenging for both the embattled state’s government and the community.
