PM Modi to embark on 2-day visit to Assam from Friday, to inaugurate several projects

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of several development projects for Assam, including a INR 3,992 crore pipeline project from Barauni to Guwahati.

Guwahati (Assam) [India], March 7 (HBTV): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of several development projects for Assam, including a INR 3,992 crore pipeline project from Barauni to Guwahati on Saturday as part of his two-day visit to the state, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said. 



Addressing a press conference on Thursday Sarma said the prime minister will arrive in the state on Friday evening and is scheduled to spend at least two hours at the Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve. 



‘Tomorrow, at 4 pm PM Modi will arrive at Tezpur airport and will directly go to Kaziranga. On March 9, at around 5:30 am, he will visit Kaziranga National Park and will spend two hours. He will go to Arunachal Pradesh from Kaziranga. After attending two programs in Arunachal Pradesh he will again visit Jorhat at around 1:30 pm,’ Sarma said.



Sarma said Modi will inaugurate the Tinsukia Medical College and lay the foundation stone for the Sivasagar Medical College under the PM-DIVINE scheme on Saturday. 



‘Modi will lay the foundation stone for the expansion of Digboi Refinery from 0.65 Million MT to 1 Million MT with a cost of INR 768 crore. Modi will also lay the foundation stone of the expansion of Guwahati Refinery from 1 million MT to 1.2 million MT at a cost of INR 510 crore. Modi will inaugurate a INR 3,992 crore project for a pipeline from Barauni to Guwahati,’ he added. 



The prime minister will also address a rally at Meleng Meteli and inaugurate several projects of both the centre and state government, he said. 



Further, Modi will perform a house-warming ceremony for 5.5 lakh houses built as part of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, lay the foundation stone for a Sivasagar Medical College, and address a public gathering at Meleng Meteli Pothar in Jorhat.  



In view of Modi's visit to Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve in Assam, the jeep safari and elephant rides will be closed in the Kaziranga range of Kohora from March 7 to the 9th.
