Dimapur [Nagaland], July 1 (HornbillTV): After the NDPP rebuted the oppositions representation to the governor, The Naga People’s Front on July 1, Thursday, held a consultative meeting of its core committee and said that it would vigorously pursue the various issues raised with the governor of Nagaland by the party’s legislature wing on the rampant corruption of the present NDPP-led-PDA government headed by chief minister, Neiphui Rio.

VO: According to a statement from the party’s media bureau that was received here on Thursday, the meeting reiterated that it would vigorously pursue the various issues raised with the governor of Nagaland and by the party’s legislature wing on the issue of corruption of the present Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party-led-People’s Democratic Alliance government.

The meeting asserted that the party’s legislature wing will participate in the recent formation of the core committee on the Naga political Issue provided that it confines its role as active facilitator, the party stated. However, it added, the NPF-PAM would continue to exist.

Further, the party’s statement maintained that as acknowledged by the government of India, the Naga issue is a political issue and hence, it has to be resolved politically by exhibiting political will. As such, the statement declared, the meeting did not endorse the opinion of Minister Temjen Imna Along that “the settlement of the Naga political issue should be within the constitution of India,” which the NPF stated is absolutely contrary to the spirit of the ongoing peace process. Therefore, such individual opinion should not stand on the way for an honourable solution, the NPF stated.

The meeting also observed a one-minute silent prayer in memory of Toshi Wungtung, adviser to the government of Nagaland, who passed away on the 1st of July at New Delhi. The party conveyed its condolences to the bereaved family, the party stated.
