“We are fully dedicated to fight for our state. We have a high hope and our voters are high hopes. The voters will cast in favour of the secularism,” Jamir said.

Kohima, March 18 (HBTV): President of Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) S Supongmeren Jamir, who is also the intending candidate of the Indian National Congress (INC) for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, said that the Congress is ready to fight for Nagaland.

“We are fully dedicated to fight for our state. We have a high hope and our voters are high hopes. The voters will cast in favour of the secularism,” Jamir said while addressing the press conference in Kohima on March 18.

Slamming the Modi-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government, he said “Today the RSS is acting in a very systematic way and they have made a trap for us. The way Modi government has put our state in is very dangerous. We should project our rights with our votes. If not our state will face problems like other states.”

The Congress leader also accused the Modi government of not allowing the 60 elected members of Nagaland Legislative Assembly led by 12 BJP to deliver justice to the people of the state.

Jamir said the BJP govt has put on hold the Naga political solution with two agreements and those agreements are still lingering because of opposition-less government in the state. “There is no one to put forward the issue or speak in favour of the Nagas to the Government of India. Justice is not being delivered to the people as the command is from the BJP government and its difficult to make decisions,” he said.

“Today the state is in a condition where the promises to provide employment, schemes and entrepreneurs but which is never delivered and which are meant for the common people but that privilege is not available for the people,” he said.

Nagaland being one of the oldest states in India, our people should voice out for equality and justice, he added.

He also said the AICC wanted to convey message that justice, peace and equality will be served to Naga people.

The party further urged the citizens to stand for their rights and also vote wisely to bring change in the state.

Eastern Nagaland People's Oragnisation issue

Speaking on the eastern nagaland People’s Organisation (ENPO) issue, Jamir observed that the Centre is playing a role of divide and rule policy. “ENPO’s demand is very genuine. They are demanding what GoI has assured to them. ENPO has the right to show their resentment. GOI is taking the wrong step,” he said.

“We should show to the GOI that Nagas are not easy to fool by their policies. We are citizens who always stand for truth and unity,” Jamir added.
