Chumoukedima, Nagaland, March 29 (HBTV): The “public emergency” meeting in the eastern regions of Nagaland continues as the leadership of the eastern tribes push for a separate administrative dispensation.

The Eastern Nagaland Public Organization (ENPO) held a crucial meeting on March 28 in Tuensang with members of the Eastern Nagaland Legislators’ Union (ENLU) and Nagaland's Rajya Sabha member.  The meeting was conducted at Tuensang's Chang Khulei Setshang Hall.

Speaking to waiting media persons after the meeting that lasted for almost 10 hours, R Tsapikiu Sangtam, president of the ENPO said “It was a coordination between the ENPO and ENLU.” He said that the ‘public emergency’ — a term given by the ENPO for its mode of agitation — stands as it is and there will be no change in the resolution taken on March 19 regarding boycotting the elections.

Sangtam said that the ENPO and ENLU will together pursue the cause of “frontier Nagaland territory”.

Regarding the matter about the legislators going to Delhi without coordinating with the ENPO, he remarked that the ENLU went to Delhi as they also had their concerns and ‘whatever paperwork they brought back’ was discussed. He mentioned that whatever points they discussed in the meeting, the ENLU will convey it to the chief minister of Nagaland during their next meeting.

While no concrete resolution was reached, the decision to boycott the elections remains unchanged.
