Mokokchung, Nagaland, April 24 (HBTV): Former chief minister of Nagaland and governor Dr SC Jamir has said that the condition in Nagaland has become such that ‘governance’ is now about engaging in moneymaking and ‘money sharing’ to meet the demands of the people during elections.

Jamir was speaking at an event of the Mokokchung district college students called ‘Confluence II’ that was conducted at Fazl Ali College in Mokokchung.

Addressing the program, Jamir urged the students to engage in positive ventures to salvage the people of the state from the current sociopolitical predicament. He lamented that the state’s governance system is ‘compelled to engage in money making and money sharing’ to meet the demands of the people during elections. The state is doing so instead of looking after the welfare of the people, the former governor of states said.

The veteran politician warned that if the people allow the present trend to continue, it is sure and certain that the Naga people’s future is doomed. To overcome these infirmities and hurdles, he said, an extraordinary means have to be mounted to create a united, harmonious, prosperous and progressive Nagaland. He called this means the ‘good war.’

Jamir termed the ‘ammunition’ for the "good war" to be "love, concern, peace, and reconciliation," and restoration of the sanctity of truth in the Naga society.

During the program, various other people including members of other collages, and students’ leaders spoke at the event.
