Imphal, Manipur, March 6 (HBTV): The chief minister of Manipur N Biren Singh has raised suspicion of full sabotage that led to the leakage of the Leimakhong heavy power fuel facility earlier on January 11. He termed it a "crime against inhumanity".

Addressing the 5th session of the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly on the last day of the session, the chief minister said a recent development pertinent to the oil spill at the Leimakhong Heavy Fuel Power Station has raised suspicions of sabotage.

The state’s power minister Th Biswajit responded to a move called by MLAs K Ranjit and Th Lokeshwar. Two First Information Reports have been registered in connection with the incident, to ensure the state's commitment to preventing such occurrences in the future.

The incident prompted action from the state government, with additional security forces deployed to ensure heightened vigilance at the site. The minister noted that the perpetrators cut the pipes connecting to the heavy fuel. This led him to believe that the act was deliberate.

Responding to concerns raised by Congress MLA K Ranjit, the minister assured the assembly that remedial measures were being taken to prevent a recurrence of the incident.

Meanwhile, concerns were also raised about the cessation of operations at the power station since 2012.

Opposition MLA Th Lokeshwar highlighted another recent incident involving the spillage of a peculiar substance into Iril River. The legislator called for heightened vigilance and preventive measures.
