Silchar, Assam, February 27 (HBTV): Uproar and chaotic scenes erupted outside the office of the superintendent of police of Cachar in Assam on Tuesday afternoon after a group of people assembled to demand justice in an alleged case of murder.
The agitators were reportedly from the Raigarh areas on the outskirts of Silchar town.
The gathered citizens assembled and started chanting slogans demanding an inquiry into the case of a person who went missing and was later found dead.
An individual identified as one Mrinal Barman, who used to work at a sweet shop, had reportedly gone missing on Wednesday night. He was found dead along the Barak river, approximately 20 kilometers away in Katakhal, on Sunday.
Cachar’s superintendent of police Numal Mahatta recorded the statement of the deceased person’s wife.
The agitators demanded an inquiry, alleging that Barman was murdered, and that the police should arrest the guilty at the earliest.
