Los Angeles [US], April 23 (HBTV): The trailer for the long-delayed Coyote vs Acme has finally been unveiled ahead of its summer theatrical release.

The first-look trailer follows Wile E. Coyote as he hires a billboard accident lawyer, Kevin Avery, played by Will Forte, and his legal team to sue the Acme Corporation, whose products have repeatedly malfunctioned during his pursuit of the Road Runner.

Acme Corporation is represented by corporate counsel Buddy Crane, portrayed by John Cena.

Other Looney Tunes characters, including Sylvester, Tweety and Foghorn Leghorn, also feature in the film.

According to Variety, the screenplay by Samy Burch is inspired by a 1990 The New Yorker article that imagines a legal case against Acme. The film blends courtroom comedy with the Looney Tunes universe, placing its iconic animated characters in a legal setting.

Originally developed for HBO Max, the film was completed with a reported budget of around USD 70 million before Warner Bros. decided not to proceed with its 2023 release, as per Variety.

In 2025, Ketchup Entertainment acquired the film for a reported USD 50 million, paving the way for a global theatrical rollout.

Amid the delays, Forte had earlier expressed surprise and excitement about the film securing distribution.

‘I never thought the film would land distribution, so it just came out of nowhere, and I’m so thrilled. I’m so excited for people to see this movie. I’m going to promote it as much as possible. Just tell me what you want me to do, and I’ll do whatever,’ he said in a previous interview.

Directed by Dave Green, Coyote vs Acme is scheduled to hit theatres on August 28.
