Chumoukedima, Nagaland, September 2 (HBTV): HornbillTV reporter Dip Saikai, who sustained two gunshot wounds on August 30, in Senapati district of Manipur during a reporting trip, has been admitted to Excelcare Hospital in Guwahati.  



According to updates, he underwent a successful surgery this morning and is now out of danger. Doctors confirmed that while his condition is stable, he will need time for complete recovery. As a precaution, he has been kept in the ICU.



Saikia was shot in the evening hours of August 30, in Laii village in Senapati district of Manipur while on an assignment to cover a flower festival called the Zinnia Flower Festival at Laii. He was shot in leg and armpit.  



The individual who shot Dip Saikia has been arrested and remanded to seven days of police custody in Senapati. He was identified as one Yambothung Ramai.



Initially, the accused person was detained by Thungjoy police. Following the registration of a case, he was formally arrested.



Speaking to HornbillTV over the phone, Senapati Superintendent of Police Zaib Zakir confirmed that the accused person is currently being interrogated and that the weapon used in the shooting has been seized. He added that statements from eyewitnesses and the accused person’s companions have also been recorded, and the case remains under investigation.
