New Delhi [India], November 5 (HBTV): Ten tribal youths, including two women, from Chhattisgarh’s Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki (MMAC) district—once heavily affected by Left Wing Extremism (LWE)—have cleared the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) and Chhattisgarh Police Constable examinations, marking a remarkable milestone for the region, the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) said on Sunday.
‘Ten tribal youths, including two young women, from the once heavily Left Wing Extremism (LWE)-affected Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki (MMAC) district in Chhattisgarh have successfully cleared the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) and Chhattisgarh Police Constable competitive examinations—physical and written tests—a first-of-its-kind success for the youth of the area,’ the ITBP stated.
Earlier, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) said that India’s decades-long fight against Left Wing Extremism has entered a decisive phase, with the number of affected districts dropping sharply from 182 in 2014 to just 11 as of October 2025.
According to the MHA, by March 31, 2026, the infamous Red Corridor will be declared a thing of the past. ‘By March 31, 2026, the infamous Red Corridor will be history. Under the Modi Government’s watch, many villages plagued by Naxalism for over five decades are now witnessing unprecedented development and progress. Not violence, but development is now defining these districts,’ the MHA stated.
The ministry further noted that in the past 75 hours alone, 303 Naxal cadres have surrendered, marking one of the most significant waves of capitulation in recent years.
On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, referring to the mass surrenders, said that the day is not far when India will be completely free from Naxalism. He added that the upcoming Diwali festivities will hold special significance for areas liberated from Maoist terrorism.
