Narayanpur (Chhattisgarh) [India], September 30 (HBTV): Twelve Naxals, including five women, carrying a total bounty of INR 18 lakh, surrendered before police in Chhattisgarh’s Narayanpur district.
Narayanpur Superintendent of Police Robinson Guria said that two of the surrendered Naxals were ECMs in the Indravati and East Bastar areas. ‘One of them is from Platoon 16, whose commander we had neutralised in the last operation. They have said they are under pressure as police continue anti-Naxal operations. They are surrendering because of the government’s surrender policy,’ Guria added.
Under the state’s surrender policy, each Naxal receives INR 50,000 and is provided identification documents to access government schemes. In 2025, 171 Naxals, including top cadre members, have surrendered in Chhattisgarh so far.
Earlier on Wednesday, two Naxals were killed in an encounter in Bijapur district. Security forces, acting on intelligence about Naxal presence in the south-western region of the district, launched a search operation, recovering arms and ammunition from the site.
Additionally, two women Naxalites were killed in an encounter with police in Gadchiroli district. Police said that members of the Gatta LOS were camped in the forest near Modaske village under Gatta Jambhiya police station. A joint operation by local police, CRPF, and C60 units led to an exchange of fire, resulting in the deaths of the two female Maoists. Authorities recovered an automatic AK-47 rifle, a pistol, live ammunition, and other belongings from the area.
