Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], March 23 (HBTV): The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has submitted a closure report on the death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput in 2020, sources said on Saturday.
According to sources, the closure report has been filed in a Mumbai court nearly five years after Sushant Singh Rajput's death.
Sushant, 34, was found dead at his Bandra residence on June 14, 2020, sparking widespread controversy, following which the investigation was handed over to the CBI. His postmortem report, conducted at Mumbai’s Cooper Hospital, cited asphyxia as the cause of death.
Sushant began his career in the entertainment industry with TV shows like Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil and gained fame for his role in Ekta Kapoor's Pavitra Rishta. He later transitioned to films, delivering acclaimed performances in Kai Po Che, MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, Shuddh Desi Romance, Detective Byomkesh Bakshy!, Chhichhore, and Dil Bechara, among others. His portrayal of MS Dhoni in MS Dhoni: The Untold Story was particularly well-received.
His final film, Dil Bechara, directed by Mukesh Chhabra and co-starring Sanjana Sanghi, was an official adaptation of The Fault in Our Stars and was released on an OTT platform.
Meanwhile, in a related case, the father of Sushant’s former manager, Disha Salian, has approached the Bombay High Court, seeking a probe into his daughter's death and requesting the registration of an FIR against Aaditya Thackeray and others.
Disha was found dead on June 8, 2020, days before Sushant was discovered in his Mumbai apartment. The Bombay High Court has listed the writ petition for hearing on April 2.
Reacting to allegations linking him to Disha Salian's death, Aaditya Thackeray has dismissed them as an attempt to defame him, stating that the matter is sub judice. ‘A lot of people have tried to defame me for the last five years. If the matter is in court, then we will speak in court,’ he told the media.
Additionally, a copy of the writ petition has been served to former NCB officer Sameer Wankhede by advocate Faizan Merchant, who represents Satish Salian. Merchant stated that Wankhede will file a detailed affidavit in the High Court addressing the allegations.
