Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], May 27 (HBTV): In the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack, the Uttar Pradesh administration has intensified efforts to identify and deport Bangladeshi and Rohingya infiltrators residing illegally in the state, the Chief Minister's Office said in a statement.
According to officials, action had already been taken against Pakistani nationals living illegally in the state. Now, a similar focus is being directed at Bangladeshi and Rohingya migrants. Authorities noted that many of these individuals are residing under changed identities in various districts.
Instructions have been issued to District Magistrates, Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs), and Police Commissioners across all districts to expedite the identification process. Simultaneously, operations are also underway to remove unauthorised and illegal structures along the India-Nepal border.
Uttar Pradesh has become the first state in the country where 100 per cent of Pakistani citizens have been deported, with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath personally overseeing the process, according to a press release from the Chief Minister's Office.
This follows the Indian government's decision to revoke all existing visas issued to Pakistani nationals, except for long-term and diplomatic visas, in response to the Pahalgam attack. The Chief Minister's direct monitoring played a significant role in this development.
CM Yogi convened a high-level meeting and instructed officials to take swift action against Pakistani nationals. On his orders, a police team was deployed to ensure the return of Pakistani citizens to their country. One Pakistani citizen currently residing in the state is scheduled to be deported on Wednesday.
Police departments and intelligence agencies are maintaining constant surveillance on Pakistani citizens. A state-wide campaign was launched across all 75 districts to facilitate their return to Pakistan.
Meanwhile, with the central government announcing the immediate closure of the Integrated Check Post (ICP), the movement of people at the Indo-Pakistan border continued on Monday.
Similar actions have recently been reported in several other states across the country.
