Raipur (Chhattisgarh) [India], June 15 (HBTV): Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma on Wednesday held an online dialogue to mark the anniversary of the 1989 Tiananmen Square massacre in Beijing, China.

The topic of the session was: Tiananmen Square: The ugly face of Maoism – from Beijing to Bastar

Addressing reporters, Sharma emphasised the need to dispel public misconceptions about Maoism, stating that Maoists have misled many people in Chhattisgarh.

‘Today is a day worth remembering, especially for the people of Chhattisgarh, because Maoists have misled people here. To dispel their misconception, people need to know what Maoism is. That is why I am conducting an online dialogue about it today,’ said the Deputy CM.

The 1989 Tiananmen Square incident, often referred to as the Tiananmen Square protests and massacre, was a student-led movement in China that was brutally suppressed by the People’s Liberation Army on June 3–4, resulting in a large number of casualties.

Meanwhile, reacting to the arrest of two Bangladeshi nationals in Durg, Sharma said, ‘Many criminals have been caught in this. I accept that there are more people than those who have been nabbed. I also appeal to the common people to make available any information they get. We are also developing a mechanism for them to share the information they possess.’

Earlier, on June 1, Deputy CM Vijay Sharma reaffirmed the BJP government’s ‘zero tolerance policy’ on national security, remarking, ‘We don’t feed biryani to these people.’

‘The BJP government works with zero tolerance when it comes to issues related to national security. We don’t feed biryani to these kinds of people in bungalows in Delhi. Their place is fixed in jail,’ Sharma told reporters.

His statement followed a large-scale search operation carried out by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) at 15 locations across eight states in connection with a Pakistan-linked espionage case.

Searches were conducted at the premises of suspects linked to Pakistan Intelligence Operatives (PIOs) in Delhi, Maharashtra (Mumbai), Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Assam, and West Bengal.

During the operation, NIA teams seized electronic devices, sensitive financial documents, and other incriminating materials. These items are currently under examination as part of the investigation into the espionage network being operated by Pakistan-based agents as part of an anti-India terror conspiracy.
