Chandigarh [India], November 1 (HBTV): In the case related to the suicide of Haryana Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Y. Puran Kumar, the Chandigarh Police have taken possession of the deceased officer’s laptop following court orders. The court directed that the entire handover and transfer process be recorded to ensure data security.

Following the directive, the officer’s family handed over the laptop to the Chandigarh Police. The court also emphasised that the laptop’s data must be preserved and that the transfer procedure be properly documented.

ADGP Y. Puran Kumar had allegedly shot himself at his residence in Sector 11 on October 7. With the family’s consent, the post-mortem was conducted at PGI on October 15. Investigators will now focus primarily on digital evidence, including data retrieved from the laptop and mobile phone.

Fingerprints will be matched, and the final note and emails found on the laptop will be examined to determine their recipients.

Earlier, Senior IAS officer Amneet P. Kumar, wife of the late IPS officer, had made serious allegations against Haryana Director General of Police (DGP) Shatrujeet Singh Kapoor and Superintendent of Police (SP) Rohtak Narendra Bijarnia. She demanded that an FIR be registered against the two officers, alleging that her husband had faced caste-based discrimination, mental harassment, and humiliation over an extended period. She also claimed that her husband had left behind a suicide note.

Meanwhile, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Sandeep Lathar, who was found dead under suspicious circumstances in Rohtak on October 14 and had accused the late IPS officer Y. Puran Kumar and his family of corruption, was cremated in Julana, Jind, on Thursday.

Haryana Minister Shruti Chaudhary, who attended the last rites, said that the state government would ensure justice for the ASI. Lathar’s daughter stated that her father ‘sacrificed himself in the fight against corruption’.
