New Delhi [India], October 16 (HBTV): Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has said that the state government is consistently working to modernise health facilities, promote voluntary blood donation, and ensure the quality of blood bank services. He added that the government is committed to maintaining the highest standards of blood transfusion services so that every citizen can have timely access to safe blood.
The Chief Minister was addressing the inauguration of the 50th Annual National Conference, Golden Jubilee Transcon 2025, organised by the Indian Society of Blood Transfusion and Immunohematology (ISBTI) in Gurugram on Friday.
Addressing the gathering, CM Saini said that a total of 149 blood centres are currently operational in Haryana, with a target of collecting 3.3 lakh units of blood this year. As per the set targets, 2,22,433 units have already been collected.
He said Haryana is the land of soldiers, farmers, and youth, adding that it is a matter of pride that the state has become a leading industrial hub while also carving a distinct identity in voluntary blood donation.
The Chief Minister stated that healthcare services in Haryana have been consistently improving. Over the last 11 years, the state has implemented major reforms in the health sector. Hospitals that once had 30 beds now have 100-bed facilities, while those with 100 beds have expanded to 200, and 200-bed hospitals have been upgraded to 400-bed institutions.
He noted that the government is working at the grassroots level to ensure quality healthcare for all. In 2014, only 700 doctors were trained annually in Haryana; today, this number has risen to 2,600 per year. The target is to further increase this to 3,400 seats annually by 2029 through the establishment of medical colleges in every district, providing better opportunities for youth and strengthening the state’s healthcare system.
Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s slogan ‘Fit India - Hit India’, CM Saini said Haryana is moving ahead with this vision, adding that a healthy population will accelerate the pace of the state’s development.
The Chief Minister also emphasised the need to adopt next-generation blood testing, AI-based blood matching, and research on artificial blood. He suggested that under the Digital Health Mission, mobile apps and web portals should be developed to track blood donations and transfusions, along with high-quality training for technicians and doctors associated with immunohematology and blood transfusion.
He added that immunohematology and blood banks are the backbone of the health sector, capable of saving countless lives. With cooperation between the government, health organisations, and society, this sector can become safer, more advanced, and more effective. He stressed that regular blood donation, public awareness, and scientific research are crucial for Haryana to reach new heights in blood donation and transfusion services.
Highlighting Transcon’s ‘Go Green’ initiative, the Chief Minister said the Haryana Government is fully committed to environmental protection. Under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, launched by Prime Minister Modi on World Environment Day last year, efforts are being made to make every corner of Haryana greener.
In the first phase of the campaign, 1.87 crore saplings were planted, while in the second phase, the target is to plant 90 lakh saplings. Additionally, under other schemes this year, another 1.20 crore saplings will be planted, bringing the total target to 2.10 crore. Since October 2014, about 18 crore saplings have already been planted across the state, reflecting Haryana’s commitment to environmental protection.
On the occasion, doctors who made outstanding contributions to the health sector were also honoured.
Cooperation Minister Arvind Sharma said that under the Seva Pakhwada launched on Prime Minister Modi’s birthday, there is great enthusiasm for blood donation across the state. People are actively participating in blood and organ donation, setting an example of awareness and service in society.
He added that under the leadership of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, the Haryana Government is continuously strengthening health services. Dialysis is now completely free for kidney patients in all government hospitals across the state.
