Rohtak (Haryana) [India], December 6 (HBTV): Haryana Minister Krishna Kumar Bedi asserted that farmers from Haryana are not part of the ongoing protests, claiming that the protesters are from the neighbouring state of Punjab.
Bedi explained that the protesting farmers have minor issues that will be addressed by the central government and court orders. He highlighted that farmers in Haryana are benefiting from several government schemes.
Speaking at the unveiling of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar’s statue at Maharishi Dayanand University in Rohtak, Bedi emphasised Haryana’s pro-farmer initiatives, including compensating farmers for unharvested crops and promising to buy crops at Minimum Support Price (MSP).
‘The Haryana government has made 24 decisions in favour of farmers, including a promise to purchase crops at MSP,’ Bedi stated.
He also pointed out that Haryana has received praise from the Supreme Court for its efforts in stubble management, contrasting it with the situation in Punjab. ‘These are all farmers from Punjab,’ he remarked.
Bedi criticised the Congress Party for alleging that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) wants to ‘abolish’ the Constitution, calling the claim baseless.
‘The Constitution cannot be abolished, and the Congress has no answer regarding the Constitution. The Chief Minister clarified all points in the Assembly,’ he said.
He added that the Constitution, created by Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar, serves as a guiding framework not only for India but for the entire world.
Bedi’s remarks came amid heightened tensions between farmers and the government, with farmers planning to march toward Delhi to press their demands. He reaffirmed that the central government and the courts would address the concerns raised by the farmers from Punjab.
